Training Courses

We organize Training Courses for FDWs with our partners at the present time (updated on 31 March, 2017). For those who are keen to attend courses, please contact each Training Provider.

Introduction

The training strategies adopted by FAST over the years were to:

  • obtain support from employers to release FDWs to attend FAST subsidized training courses;
  • encourage participation from FDWs through affordable and low course fees; and
  • create greater awareness and publicity for courses conducted by FAST and its Approved Training Providers;

In line with FAST's vision of enhancing FDW’s contribution to their employers and the local community in Singapore, FAST continued to facilitate and provide livelihood development courses and training at subsidized rate for FDWs. FAST is happy to receive many positive feedbacks regarding our courses from employers and FDWs and is also pleased to note various success stories from FDWs who have made good after attending FAST training courses. Below is one example.

Since April 2013, FAST has expanded its training courses by collaborating with Community Clubs (CCs) and Culinary Centres to offer culinary and baking courses. FAST has also signed MOUs with training providers including Grace Management and Consultancy Pte Ltd (GMC), SSA Pte Ltd, SOHA Institute, Media Transformation Ministry (MTM), Work Development Centre (WDC) and Aria Training and Consultancy to expand its repertoire of courses offered.

While GMC provides core skills training such as workplace safety, stress management and caring for non-ambulant persons, SSA provides computer and basic English programmes for the FDWs. SOHA supports FAST through providing reflexology, nursing and confinement care skills training. MTM enhances the capability of FDWs by offering courses such as entrepreneurial skills and computer skills. WDC offers certification programmes in Hospitality Training that help prepare the FDWs for future employment in the hospitality and F & B industries. The newest training provider, Aria Training and Consultancy specialises in a whole range of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) courses in pain relief through acupressure, guasa and cupping techniques along with healthy cooking and confinement care programmes.
